dc.description.abstractA. Thesis Statement Movement is an issue that is present in all human activities and sports is a movement intensive activity, this same concept of movement should also be reflected in the architecture that surrounds us through the use of rhythm and repetition creating a sense of movement in static objects. B. Scope of Project The project consists of a new country club complex, which will contain various elements consistent with modern country club design. The clubhouse will contain areas for social functions and areas for individual or group recreational athletic functions. The social functioning areas consist of the dining room, cocktail lounge, ballroom, and private party room. Also contained in these areas are public rest rooms, storage and checkroom, entry and vestibule area, patios and decks, The recreational and athletic areas contain the following functions; locker rooms, racquetball courts, aerobic fitness area, pod lockers, pod facilities, pro" shop, storage of golf clubs and carts, attendant's station and maintenance room. C. Context Statement The site is an existing public municipal golf course that has been purchased by a private entity for the sole purpose of creating a new private membership country club in Lubbock, Texas, The site is the Meadowbrook golf course complex located in, Mackenzie state park. The site which is unusual for Lubbock, consists of a varying topography that will provide a site that may yield a structure that will make use of every opportunity to take advantage of geographical features of the area.
