Abstract

This insider action research study focused on determining the impact of collaboration, inquiry, and reflective practice utilizing Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and a Multi-Tiered System of Supports through a targeted professional development intervention program implemented during the early Fall of 2022. The researcher implemented Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) within the framework of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in an intentional and clear fashion along with explicit training regarding Culturally Linguistically Responsive Instructional Practices, strong leadership, and clearly communicated goals and expectations. While these best practices are well established in the literature, there is resistance to implementing them consistently. This study focused on building connections between these practices and creating the necessary conditions within the leadership context of this specific organization to operationalize implementation. The success of this research study influenced future instructional practice across the school district to incorporate these strategies in an effort to improve instruction and student outcomes.
