Abstract

This thesis looks at how the New Deal operated in a growing community in West Texas. The thesis looks specifically at the work done by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Rural Electrification Administration, and the Works Progress Administration in Lubbock and the surrounding area. Many studies of the New Deal look at the politics surrounding the formulation of New Deal agencies and policies in the 1930s; the purpose here is to examine the actual implementation of the different programs.
