The primary purpose of this research was to examine whether factors related to sibling relationship and sexual experiences were correlated with eating disorders or disordered eating behaviors after adjusting for individual demographic factors such as age, sex, education, religiosity, self-image, impulse control, emotional distress, and family connectedness. Understanding these relationships is beneficial to not only the patients and families, but also to the clinicians and researchers who focus on this area of interest. Two articles, each focused to examine relationships that affect the etiology of eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors are included. Each article utilized a proposed model which was based on existing literature to assess various aspects of these relationships. The first article focused on the relationship among sexual experiences and eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors; whereas the second article focused on the relationship among sibling relationship quality and eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors. The final concluding chapter provides a summary and discussion of the findings of the two articles.
