Abstract

Thesis Statement: Architecture as a metaphor for knowledge and culture.The project will acknowledge the changing character of sources of news and information and the needs of library of the twenty-first century. Facility type and scope of the project: The concept is to be explored through a 27,778 square foot regional library facility for the city of Lubbock, Texas. The facility will include storage for traditional printed media and computer terminals for use on the "Information Highway. " Context Statement: The site for the project is located in a residential area in Northwest Lubbock at the intersection of 19th street and Chicago Avenue. The library will serve the immediate neighborhood as well as the rest of Lubbock County.
