Man and nature can and should coexist in a manner that benefits both. Nature should not be viewed as a "decorative background for human play," but recognized as a "source of life, milieu, teacher, sanctum , challenge and .. . source of meaning.'" Therefore , a man-made structure should respect nature and not exist as an intrusion. In turn, bringing nature into architecture can provide a better quality of life for man.
