Abstract

Nonresidents often have good reasons for needing or wanting a will in the United States, especially if they own property locally. This article discusses how to create a will for a United States nonresident and how to avoid potential conflicts between a local United States will and any wills the testator may have in other jurisdictions. There is also a future possibility of the United States entering into a convention with other foreign countries that would allow any will following the convention’s requirements to be valid in any of the jurisdictions agreeing to and signing the convention.
