Abstract

Forty-eight bales of cotton that were officially classed and laboratory measured for bark content were used 10 determine the accuracy of bark classification in West Texas Cotton. The results indicated that the c1assers' designation for bark was not consistent with objective laboratory measures of bark. Classers' judgements for no bark appear reasonably accurate, but judgements on level 1 bark did not clearly separate barky from non-barky cotton.
