Self-Confidence of Individuals in Developing Essential Adulting Skills and the Perceived Student Value of an Adulting Course in Educational Entities

Research shows that many students graduating from high school do not have the essential adulting skills needed to be successful in life. This created a need for a life skills course in a post-secondary educational entity. Adulting 101: Real Skills for Real Life is a course at Texas Tech University that educates students on the skills needed in day-to-day life. The following articles will discuss how the adulting course was used to analyze and refine the life skills questionnaire instrument used in this study, show the self-confidence of individuals in adult skills through a mixed methods study, and how the self-confidence of adult skills based on education levels compare to the need for an adulting course in educational entities through a quantitative design.
