Abstract

When attorneys discuss legacy planning with their clients, conversations surrounding advanced care planning is typically a cursory part of the meeting. However, this part of the conversation is what people actually want to talk about and they just need guidance on how to do that. The statutory and non-statutory documents provide such guidance and should be reviewed and discussed with clients in an office setting and with loved ones on a frequent basis. There are many medical decisions to make throughout life. The only way to ensure those decisions are honored is to place them in writing.
