It should be noted that when SAMPLE DATA is included on the tract map this indicates that the data is based upon a sample rather than a 100% count. In Lubbock County overall, 13.2% of the households were sampled. The sum of the individual tracts will not equal the City of Lubbock Totals on the City maps. This is because there are several partial tracts within the City of Lubbock. The greatest controversy about the 1990 Census of Population and Housing was the degree of undercount. In Lubbock County the latest U. S. Census Bureau estimate of undercount was 2.0%. Based upon national trends this means that the following estimated percentage undercount occurred in Lubbock County: Anglo 0.9%, Black 3.7%, American Indian 2.1%, Asian 1.8%, and Hispanic Origin 3.7%.117 p.application/pdfengCensusCity PlanningLubbock County (Tex.)Selected 1990 census information by census tract maps, Lubbock CountyBookUnrestricted.
