Bridging the Gap: New Thresholds and Opportunities for Collaboration
MetadataShow full item record
This chapter presents a case study of a library and writing collaboration. We offer a narrative about the steps we took to integrate the ACRL Framework and to revise the first-year composition course, specifically the literature review unit. The revised course was piloted in the Fall 2015 semester. This chapter also examines the collaborative relationship between librarians and writing programs and identifies the ways the ACRL Framework complements the Council of Writing Program Administrators, National Council of Teachers of English, and National Writing Project (WPA) Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing.2 Merging the two Frameworks, we argue, more clearly defines information literacy as it is connected to the critical reading, researching, and writing skills taught in first-year composition.
