William Clent Breedlove created an "empire of the air" by signed contracts with the Civilian Pilot Training Program and the United States Army Air Forces to train pilots for the United States military during World War II. These lucrative contracts proved very financially rewarding for him but in the end, the U.S. Government sued him for most of his profits and almost drove him into bankruptcy.
