Abstract
The Wide Mouth of Bone: Original Poetry is a collection of poems which explores the landscape of the Llano Estacado and its relationship to memory, space, and emotion. Ache, the central theme of these poems, manifests in a number of settings and images: a bird dying in a field, the inconsolable loss of a loved one, and the realization of love, to name a few. As a whole, this collection follows the path of the seasons and examines how one's experiences become a greater conversation about our place within the natural world.
