Abstract

The focus of this study is to characterize automotive dual fans. Rather than testing fans and radiators as they are installed in a vehicle, all tests for the current study were performed on a flowstand test apparatus. This device facilitates accurate evaluation of flowrate and system component pressure drops. A multiple streamtube method is used to characterize the fan and the fan in conjunction with radiator in dual and single shrouds. The method is exactly analogous to that used in ttuCool. The primary objecti\e of this present study is to evaluate the accuracy of that method and to identify potential improvements.
