Abstract

Architecture is about interaction. The New Urbanism changed our sub-urban neighborhoods into places of rich relationships. The urban neighborhoods consist of high-rise apartments that lack this neighborhood contact, seeming isolated. To increase interaction and community among high-rise residents, the New Urbanism theory must be incorporated into the fundamental design of high-rise living. This can be done through the creation of a diverse, workable, compact, mixed-use building composed of the same components as a conventional development, but assembled in a more integrated fashion, in the form of a complete community. It will contain housing, work places, shops, entertainment, transit stops and garden parks essential to the daily lives of residents.
