Abstract

Examines the United States Supreme Court’s decision in Shaffer v. Heitner. The Court in Shaffer established that a state court must apply the same “minimum contacts” test set forth by International Shoe Co. v. Washington to the exercise of in rem or quasi in rem jurisdiction. The author believes this case represents a “logical and long overdue extension of due process.”
