Abstract

Summarizes the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals’ case Landers v. States. The court in Landers held that Texas did not recognize a constitutional right to hybrid representation—representation partially by counsel and partially pro se. The author believes this “either one or the other, but not both” interpretation is erroneously narrow when the alternative could be interpreted from the statute just as easily.
