Abstract
Discusses the important statues, regulations, and policies that form the framework for peculiar procedures and requirements surrounding the leasing and operation of oil and gas properties owned by the State of Texas. Topics include the different kinds of state lands and the boards and agencies responsible for their administration, the leasing procedures and lease terms for the state lands, special lease provisions, and procedures for the unitization and pooling of state lands. The article is intended to be a quick reference guide for important obligations that may not routinely arise while operating privately owned oil and gas properties.
